R. taylor Ripley, M.D., is a thoracic surgical oncologist and board-certified general thoracic surgeon who recently joined Baylor College of Medicine from the National Cancer Institute, NIH, where he was an Associate Professor of Surgery and Principle Investigator. He earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and trained in thoracic surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He specializes in robotic thoracic surgery and in thoracic surgical oncology with an emphasis on mesothelioma, lung cancer, and esophageal cancer. At the National Cancer Institute, he started the Robotic Thoracic Program and the Multidisciplinary Foregut Team. His research efforts target methods to metabolically reprogram mesothelioma, esophageal cancer, and lung cancer to make the cells more vulnerable to therapy.

Dr. Burt earned his Bachelor of Arts at New York University in 1999 and his M.D. from Weill Medical College of Cornell University in 2003. He completed is Internship and Residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Massachusetts. Dr. Burt became an assistant professor in 2012 with his first appointment in Cardiovascular Surgery at Stanford University, and his most recent appointment at Baylor College of Medicine in 2014. Dr. Burt is now the director of Thoracic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He has published over 45 original articles and book chapters and has successfully maintained national funding for his research. Dr. Burt remains committed to teaching and research by instructing medical fellows in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Operative Anatomy.

Dr. Groth earned his Bachelor of Arts at St. Olaf College in 1999 and his M.D. at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in 2003. To further develop a clinical research focus, he returned to school in 2006 to earn a Master of Science in Clinical Research from The University of Minnesota. He completed his internship and residency at University of Minnesota and at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Massachusetts. In 2013, Dr. Groth became clinical instructor for the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In 2014, he was appointed to assistant professor of Surgery for the Division of Thoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Groth has won numerous awards and accolades and has been committed to service and teaching. He has published over 55 original manuscripts and book chapters.
