Phillip Bowden
Nurse Practitioner

Bowden earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Alabama School of Nursing in Birmingham in 1992. He then earned his Master of Science from the same school in 1996. He certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in Alabama in 1996, then in Texas in 2006. He has had approximately 20 years of experience in patient care as a nurse practitioner.

Claire Patenia
Physician Assistant

Patenia earned her Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology from the University of Texas, Austin in 2009 and her Master of physician assistant Sciences from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in 2014. She became a certified Physician Assistant in August of 2014 through the State of Texas and joined the MTC team in 2014. Prior to deciding to specialize in Cardiothoracic Surgery with MTC, she gained experience in Surgery and Internal Medicine, including a rotation in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Kathleen Zavalla, M.S.N., AGNP-C
Physician Assistant

Zavalla earned her B.S.N. at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and her M.S.N at the University of Texas Medical Branch. She is a recipient of The George Foundation Scholarship Award (2009) and is actively involved in a number of professional associations relevant to her position. In her role at the MTC, she serves as a liaison between the clinic and the hospital, smoothing the transition between two and ensuring continuity of care for patients.

Sarah Morrissey MS, RN, FNP
Nurse Practitioner

Sarah graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Anita Thigpen Perry School of Nursing at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas in 2011. She graduated from Texas Woman's University in Houston, with her Master of Science, obtaining her certification and licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2016. Since the beginning of her nursing career, she has always had a passion for caring for cardiothoracic surgery patients, and has previously cared for post-operative thoracic surgery patients at CHI Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center.

Priya Manoje NP
Nurse Practitioner

Priya earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from College of Nursing, Christian Medical College, India. She then earned Masters in Science at Prairie View A & M University and obtained her certification as a Family nurse Practitioner in 2014. She has previous experience in caring for cardiothoracic surgery patients before joining MTC in 2016.
